Dance Explosion School of Performing Arts

As of January 2015, DESPA is proud to have a competition team. The competition team is slightly different than our other classes. The competition team meets three to five times a week. These dancers are looking to enhance their training and take it to another level. We request that our competition team dancers have danced with the studio at least a year and be the minimum age of 5 by May 1st of the upcoming competition season to be considered. Invitations to the competition team will be administered on an individual baisis if faculty members believes that dancers will do well on the team without meeting qualifications. Competition team members will attend their regularly schedule dance classes for their required age to keep up their technical level as well as additional technique classes such as acrobatics, conditioning, leaps and turns, and flexibility classes.

Tying together our talented and dedicated instructors with our students who are also dedicated and willing to learn and utilize their gift, our dancers are able to both technically and emotionally be wonderful artists. We place our students on teams that we feel will have them with other dancers to push eachother to be the best that they can be.

Our competition team attends regional competitons around North Carolina along with the option to attend a Nationals out of the state as well to some or all dances of the current competition season. Dancers also are given the oppourtunity to attend SHOCK! and JUMP! Conventions to further their dance training by taking Master classes from world-renounded choreographers. DESPA believes that our competition team is an excellent representation of our instructors as each instructor and guest artist takes pride in allowing our dancers to be the best that they can be and a reflection of ourselves as well. We want all of our dancers to have fun, feel accomplished, and have enjoyed their time and learn the value of morals and ethics.

Auditions for the 2016-2017 competition team take place May 21st 2016 and June 4, 2016 OR may be done privately with individual auditions if your child can't make the audition.
