Performance 1: Holiday Observation

 

This is a great oppoutunity for parents to be able to see what our students have been working on in the first half of the year. As the fall/winter term comes to a close, parents, family, and guardians are welcome to sit within the classroom and see the growth and progress that their child has made since either the summer or the first class of the fall term. Observation occurs in December before the holiday break and closes with a holiday performance for them. Family and friends are more than welcome to take photos during the class period. The last ten minutes close with a brief Holiday Party includng cookies/cake as well as drinks (water, juices and soft drinks).

 

Performance 2: Nutcracker Tea

 

Every year, DESPA hosts a Nutcracker Tea! The tea takes place at the dance studio on a Sunday afternoon. It is usually the third weekend in December The event is $10 a child. Your child gets the oppoutunity  to meet some of the characters from the Nutcracker, like the Sugar Plum Fairy, Clara and the Snow Queen and enjoy an afternoon of tea and cakes with these exciting characters, a reading of the the story of the Nurcracker and a viewing of Balanchine's The Nutcracker. The children also creating crafts like Snow Queen's wand and your own nutcracker! Children will also be learning a dance from the ballet to perform at the end of the tea for their family and friends! Also, there will be cards with the faces of the characters and your child can get autographs from the characters! The Tea also has a raffle where children can win Nutcracker goodies! The Nutcracker Tea also has a Nutcacker table where adults can purchase their child a Nutcracker Souviener! This event isn't limited to dancers of the studio, it is open to the public and all are welcome!

Performance 3: Spring Performance

​Spring Performance is the closing out performance for the dance season before summer dance begins. Many may know this as a recital. Dancers will perform on a stage pieces that they have learned with their instructors as well as recieve costumes. This gives family and friends (both local and out of town) the ability to be able to come in and see their child perform. This is a great way for children to display all the factors and training that they have worked on in the classroom as well as show how much they have developed not only since fall/winter term, but since the very first time that they walked into the classroom. Our spring performance is completely free and we welcome all.
