FAQs

• Does the studio follow the Davie County, Yadkin County, or Winston-Salem Forsyth County School calendars?
  Not always. DESPA sets it's calendar in advance in July for the upcoming dance season. The studio takes into consideration national holidays and winter/spring breaks. Reguarding incliment weather, please refer to the studio homepage, and use your best judgement on traveling.
  Is there a end of the year performance or recital? Is it required?

• We have a end of the year recital that takes place in mid-May. We highly encourage our dancers to attend the recital, but it isn't mandatory to participate within it. Recital costumes are $50 to purchase, or your child may rent their costume for $10 and they will be reused the next year for a different group.

• Am I allowed to watch my child's class?
  For our tiniest PK Dancers, we allow parents to watch in the classroom the first few weeks to get them adjusted to a new setting. Otherwise, we don't like parents to watch in the classroom due to students getting distracted. However, our studio DOES have observation cameras that stay on year-round so that you can watch your child's class throughout the year. However, our end of the year recital, everyone can watch their child shine on stage.

• How many children are in a class size?
  Class sizes vary depending on instructor, age as well as the class offered. We limit each class to a size that allows all children to recieve attention within the classroom.

• When does my child get their recital costume and find out what it looks like?
  In December, dancers get measured for their recital costumes. Costumes get purchased the beginning of December and the recital theme will get released that day as well. An email to all parents with photos of their child's costume(s) will be sent the beginning of January.

• When do we have to pay for recital costumes?
  Recital costumes must be paid for by December 1st. This is because of the amount of time that it takes for costumes to come in. We also purchase a "quick rush" of costumes for any new students that join in January. We have class recital picture day in early March so we like for our costumes to be ready by then and see if we need to do any alterations!

• When is tuition due?
  Tuition is due by the second week of every month. After this, there is a late fee of $5 applied. Unless specified with the instructor that there will be a late payment.

• Are there any discounts?
  Yes, the studio offers discounts including homeschoolers, siblings, and multiple classes. Just indicate such on the registration forms at the beginning of your first class.

• Does my child have make up classes?
  If your child is absent due to illness or a family emergency, your child may make up a class by attending the same level on a different day.

• What happens if my child doesn't want to dance anymore or can no longer attend classes for other situational reasons?
  DESPA requires a notice at least a week prior to your child's decision. This can be done verbally or by a note or email. Tuition is due monthly, so there will be no extra charges after they complete their month. We also do NOT have contracts or payments that continue once you leave. If your child decides in January or later to not continue, they will still recieve their costume since they have already paid for it.
